The difference between a 1300 number and an 1800 number

Without fail, every day a question will be asked around this — what is the difference between a 1300 prefix and an 1800 prefix and what is best suited for their business. Thankfully, you will have an easy time choosing between the two prefixes as there are only a few differences to consider in a practical sense.

The Cost difference — virtually none, potential for slight variations in 1300 vs 1800 on the callers end. No difference to the business owner.

How Does Pricing Work?

The pricing is broken into three main pieces:

1. The monthly fee — Your minimum monthly charge.
2. The per-minute rate for landing to a fixed line
3. The per-minute rate for landing to a mobile

Extra bits may include a dollar amount of credit included (offset against the per-minute rates) and/or included minutes for fixed, mobile, or both.

If you get no calls, there are no call charges. The pricing is listed per minute but is actually billed per second to offer the best and cheapest 1800 numbers possible. If there are any included minutes or dollar value credits, these will be added back to your account each day until exhausted.

There are no contracts on standard 1800 numbers — just a month-by-month ongoing arrangement which requires 30 days notice to cancel. You will be charged in advance for the monthly fees.
